Boy, 14, struck and killed by Amtrak train in Kirkwood

KIRKWOOD, Mo. (AP) - An investigation continues into a fatal accident involving a teenager who was struck by an Amtrak train in St. Louis County.

Authorities early Thursday identified the victim as 14-year-old Cameron Vennard of Oakland. He was walking along the track Wednesday afternoon in Kirkwood when he was struck by a westbound train.

Authorities say he was wearing headphones. The train sounded its horning trying to warn the teen.

Cameron had just completed middle school and would have attended Kirkwood High School in the fall.
