When I read that the Legislature had concluded its business on Friday, I felt a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye - not from pride, but nausea.
The front page article detailed how our lawmakers had settled for "the doable" instead of the ideal. Which means they failed to pass bills to promote education and jobs as promised, but instead passed a bill to allow employers to refuse to provide health insurance for birth control.
Then they turned their attention to fun, wrapping desks in tinfoil, throwing paper wads and other juvenile pranks. Rush Limbaugh would be proud.
