Summer reading program launches June 1

Missouri River Regional Library's 2012 summer reading program kicks off June 1 and could be just what you are looking for.

The program begins at 6 p.m. June 1 with activities and entertainment for all ages at the Missouri River Regional Library's main branch in Jefferson City at 214 Adams St. The evening will include a performance by Brian Wendling, a professional juggler and comedian, beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will be crafts for children, teens and adults. Local businesses and organizations will have informational booths.

After the conclusion of the summer reading kickoff festivities at 8 p.m., the fun will continue for teens, who will have their own special "Own the Night Lock In!" until midnight. The teens-only, second-floor party will include pizza, soda and more.
