Operation Tyler, the local campaign to build a home for a severely wounded Mid-Missouri veteran and his family, has now officially gone from the fundraising and planning stage to the construction phase.
On Friday, about 200 people attended the groundbreaking for the 3,000-square-foot home for Marine Cpl. Tyler Huffman and his family.
Huffman, a Fulton native, was injured in December 2010 while serving in Afghanistan. His injuries from the sniper bullet have left him paralyzed.
In November 2011, Huffman accepted an offer of land from Joe and Kay Twehous. And since then, Operation Tyler has taken off .....
Benefit concert
Through the partnership with the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and Gary Sinise Foundation, a fundraising concert will be held to ensure Tyler Huffman's home - and the homes of other injured veterans who are helped by the foundation - are built to meet the veterans' needs.
The concert featuring Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will be at 7 p.m. July 27 at Apple Creek Farm, Centertown, Mo. Tickets went on sale Friday morning and are $30 for general/lawn admission; VIP tickets are $100.
