Missouri's Constitution gives them no choice.
Their "drop-dead" deadline is coming, whether they wish to or not - at 6 p.m. Friday, Missouri lawmakers must end this year's legislative session.
The House begins its last week of work at 4 p.m. today.
The Senate will resume an hour earlier.
"We've got a number of priorities," Senate Floor Leader Tom Dempsey, R-St. Charles, told reporters last week. "I haven't really gotten a chance to sit down and look at the calendar, because we've been trying to get the budget done on time."
