Driver rescued from car teetering above river

Emergency workers rescued a Jefferson City woman on Wednesday afternoon after her car crashed into a tree and was in danger of rolling down a steep hillside above the Missouri River.

Police report Christina Crouse, 63, had driven her car through the back yard of a residence in the 400 block of Windriver Drive.

She was unconscious inside her vehicle when rescue workers arrived shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday. Jefferson City firefighters stabilized the car and safely removed the driver.

She was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police report.
