SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Students at Missouri State University will be paying a little bit more in the upcoming academic year.
Missouri State's board of governors voted Friday to raise tuition about 3 percent, or about $6.48 per credit hour, for in-state undergraduate students.
Out-of-state undergrads will see their tuition go up by about $24 per credit hour. Graduate students will also see even bigger increases in their tuition bills.
The university's business school will also implement a $25-per-credit-hour fee for upper-level courses.
Interim university president Clifton Smart III says the tuition hikes are needed to help the school provide a quality education.
Missouri lawmakers are still working on the state's higher education budget for next year, but funding cuts are possible.
