A memorial stone dedicated to the service of American service members during World War I has been found lying in a vacant and overgrown lot in Jefferson City.
"Last year, my son-in-law spotted the stone and brought me over to show it to me," said Pat Schell, a lifelong Jefferson City resident and daughter of a World War I veteran.
Schell contacted the state department of the VFW with information on the find, who then referred her to the Silver Star Families of America.
