JC Memorial Airport set to receive grants

The Jefferson City Memorial Airport is in line to receive grants for operations and maintenance.

At the Public Works and Planning Committee meeting Thursday, Britt Smith, operations division director, presented an agreement from the Missouri Department of Transportation to help pay for operating expenses of the air traffic control tower at the airport. The agreement will allow for up to $86,000 in grant funds to cover the operating expenses of last year and this year.

Smith also mentioned the airport is set to receive another $1.6 million in grants to resurface the main airport runway. No additional details on those funds were discussed.
