If you're looking for an entertaining magic show, you can fly to Vegas and plop down $110 for a David Copperfield ticket. Or you can stay in Jefferson City and see a local family of seasoned prestidigitators perform their family friendly show.

Both Copperfield and The Gillam Family have performed around the country and even internationally. Both perform stage illusions that range from cutting someone in half to summoning snow from an indoor venue.

Granted, Copperfield is a household name. But the Gillams' show offers several advantages:

• You see an entire family perform, and you'll have a chance to meet the performers after the show.

• Lots of audience participation.

• Better seats at the Miller Center. (It's general admission, so arrive early.)

• You'll help a good cause, as the show is a fundraiser for the Council for Drug Free Youth (CDFY).

Oh, and you'll save money. A pair of tickets will set you back a mere $10 (no airfare required).

The Gillams - Aaron and Denise and their children Marie, 12, and David, 10 - will recreate some of their classic illusions, but they've also got plenty of new ones planned.
