Lack of experience the story for Jays' golf team

March 21st, 2012 in News

The Jefferson City Jays aren't quite sure what to expect in this spring's golf season.

Inexperience will do that.

"We are a work in progress," Jays coach Randy Bickel said as Jefferson City prepared for today's opening dual at Waynesville. "We want to improve each day, in each match. That's how we will judge our success this season."

Jefferson City has just two golfers - senior Jamison Moore and sophomore David Anderson - with varsity experience. And without having that familiarity, Bickel isn't sure how his team will react under pressure.

"We've got to have a match or a tournament to see how they play under competitive conditions," he said. "We won't know what progress we've made, especially mentally, until that happens. And the mental aspect is very important."
