County considers adding warning sirens

Cole County commissioners are looking for more information before deciding where or if warning sirens should be installed in the county.

At Monday's commission meeting, Cole County Emergency Management Director Bill Farr said each siren would cost the county around $25,000.

No money was set aside specifically for sirens in the half-cent capital improvement sales tax that voters approved last year. Farr said they had looked to get grant funding to pay for the sirens, but couldn't get any.

Currently, the county owns no warning sirens.
