Harrisburg beats New Haven for girls Class 2 title

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Chelsey Kroese scored Harrisburg's final 18 points to lead the Bulldogs past New Haven 43-32 in the Missouri Class 2 girls' state title on Saturday.

Harrisburg (29-2) started the game making six of its first eight shots and built a 14-2 lead, as the Bulldogs led throughout en route to their second championship in three years.

Kroese finished with 25 points.

New Haven (18-13) narrowed the deficit to 22-18 early in the second half before a Paige Hiebel 3-pointer ended the threat. The Shamrocks also closed within 33-28 with 7:42 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Harrisburg ended the game on a 10-4 run.

Kayla Oetterer scored 15 points and Rachel Steinhoff added 13 for New Haven, which lost for the first time in eight games.

Harrisburg scored 18 points off 13 forced turnovers.
