"Happy Days" has returned, but with a bit more musical flair. The hit television series from the 1970s is coming to Helias at the end of this week, marking the mid-Missouri premiere of "Happy Days" the musical.
Director Wyn Riley said the show has been touring the country since 2008 and has yet to hit Broadway. The Helias production will be the first in Mid-Missouri.
The musical carries on the spirit of the original television show, set in 1959 Milwaukee. The story is based around the popular spot Arnold's, which is in danger of closing, so the gang, including Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzarelli, throws a fundraiser featuring a dance contest and wrestling match.
The show will be performed at 7:30 p.m. March 16 and March 17, and at 2 p.m. March 18 at the Miller Performing Arts Center in Jefferson City. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students. For more information or to reserve tickets, call (573) 635-6139.
