It's not your typical Sherlock Holmes play.

Students at Calvary Lutheran School will perform "The Death and Life of Sherlock Holmes" Monday and Tuesday in Jefferson City at The Stained Glass Theater, 830 E. High St.

Calvary Lutheran drama coach Dan Deardoff said, "In this play, Sherlock Holmes solves his final case as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle seeks to balance his professional and private lives. The play switches back and forth between the fictional and real world of Holmes."

Deardoff said Doyle was interested in writing on spiritual matters and couldn't get anything but his works about Holmes published.

"He killed him off, but had to bring him back," Deardoff said. "That's where this title comes from."

Performances of "The Death and Life of Sherlock Holmes" will be at 7 p.m. both Monday and Tuesday.

Tickets are available at the door. The cost is $5 for adults and $2 for students.
