Even if Missouri lawmakers don't change the way state aid funds are distributed to public schools next year, and the Jefferson City district loses more than $1 million, the school board still voted Thursday to give employees an average 1.8 percent pay raise.
"If something happens at the General Assembly, we'd like to come back and look at this again" for a possible larger raise, Chief Financial Officer Jason Hoffman told the seven-member board after quickly outlining the current budget situation.
"But, at this time, I feel very comfortable giving the 1.8 percent raises."
Hoffman noted the pay changes generally are a function of the district's existing salary scales.
