Local boy, family get a Disney break from battle with diabetes

Brycen Miller, front middle, watches as his father, Kevin, opens gifts to the family from Dream Factory, a not-for-profit organization that grants dreams to critically and chronically ill children. On Sunday, the group held a "dream delivery" for Brycen, awarding the boy and his family a trip to Disney World. The 8-year-old was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in late 2010. In the past year, 8-year-old Brycen Miller has dealt with extreme fatigue, weight loss, constant testing and even being taught to give himself the four daily injections he needs.
Later this week, the Jefferson City boy will get a break from some of the realities of being a Type 1 diabetic, as he and his family take a Dream Factory-sponsored trip to Disney World.
"He is very excited," mom Angela Miller said. "A little nervous about the plane, but he's excited."
