"Assisting artists is the cornerstone of Missouri Artisans Association, better known as The Best of Missouri Hands (BOMH)."

This statement noted as part of the Best of Missouri Hands 501(c) 3 organization's material resonates with its mission for growing art and artisan awareness throughout the state. Members can participate in various local, regional and national educational events, which promote interest in and awareness of Missouri's art and craft heritage, the organization's literature states.

Camdenton artisan Bill Merritt, who serves at a juried artist and as the board of directors member for BOMH, and his wife and fellow artisan and BOMH member, Terrie, have seen tremendous growth and marketing accessibility in their business, Ozarklake Distinct Decor, learned new techniques to aid in their creations from fellow BOMH members and juried artists, and stay connected with the community through this helpful organization.

With a handful of current BOMH members in the Lake Area, the Merritts and Best of Missouri Hands invite artists to attend its annual ARTSmart Conference March 9-11 at Inn at the Grand Glaize in Osage Beach. Filled with a variety of seminars, keynote speakers, breakout sessions, raffles, trivia challenges and jury critiques, the ARTSmart Conference is a way for any artist to connect with the artisan community and in turn with those interested in their creations throughout the state and beyond.
