Lincoln runners contending for Jamaican Olympic spots

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Several current and former Lincoln University runners are taking part in the Jamaican Olympic Trials that began Thursday.

Two current Blue Tigers qualified for the finals of the 400-meter hurdles - Roxroy Cato finished fourth in 50.09 in the prelims and Sabiel Anderson placed eighth in 50.26.

The top three finishers in each event qualify for the London Olympics, which are set for July 25-Aug. 12.

Former Lincoln runner Lerone Clarke finished second in his heat of the 100-meter dash and qualified for today's semifinals with a time of 10.15. The best time in the event was 10.00.

Another former Blue Tiger, Dane Hyatt, had the top time in the 400-meter dash with a blazing 45.70, earning him a spot in today's semifinal round.

Competing in today's final-only triple jump is another former Blue Tiger, Wilbert Walker.
