JC Council approves revenue estimates

The Jefferson City Council has unanimously approved revenue projections for the next fiscal year, estimating $31.2 million in revenues in 2013.

In a special meeting of the Budget Committee on Thursday, council members discussed projections for 2013 revenues, hoping to nail down an overall revenue projection before budget discussions officially start next month. Committee chairman and 2nd Ward Councilman Shawn Schulte said the goal was to project a total based on actual receipts and historical trends, minimizing guesswork.

Mayor Eric Struemph said he aims to be as realistic and conservative as possible in his projections, which were discussed by the council before approval. Overall, the council made only two adjustments to Struemph's proposed budget, though they were fully supported by Struemph.
