The Hotel Governor on the corner of Madison Street and East Capitol Avenue welcomes a new restaurant catering especially to Capitol and downtown employees.

"It's something different," said Rick Burgess, owner of Rick's Cafe, which opened May 22. "We have a unique menu that's different from any other place in town."

Menu items include traditional breakfast options such as bagels, foster-stuffed French toast and fried-egg sandwiches, along with several southwestern-style lunch choices including chipotle chicken, a black bean burger and the Southwest BLT. Rick's Cafe also offers salads, espresso drinks, organic coffee and a "quiche of the day" breakfast special.

Prices range from $2 for a scone to $8 for specialty sandwiches. Most menu items are in the $6 to $7 range.

Open Monday through Friday, Rick's Cafe serves breakfast from 7-10:30 a.m. and lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The restaurant offers pick-up lunch via phone or e-mail for orders placed before 10 a.m. noting a desired pick-up time.
