4-year sentence handed down in burglary

A Nevada, Mo., man was sentenced to four years in prison for pleading guilty to charges in connection with a Jefferson City business burglary last October.

William Newton, 38, was charged with second-degree burglary, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Probable cause statements from the Jefferson City Police Department show officers responded to Jim Lewis Tire, 1300 Missouri Blvd., for an alarm at 623 Virginia St., which serves as a storage building for the business.
