JC school board OKs budget of $89.4 million

With no dissent, Jefferson City's Board of Education Tuesday night approved an estimated $89.4 million total budget for the 2012-13 school year that begins July 1.

That includes an additional $500 a year increase for every district employee, and the hiring of four new teachers, mainly because of expected growth in the number of elementary school students.

Chief Financial Officer Jason Hoffman said, Jefferson City's schools will receive about $500,000 more in state aid in the 2012-13 budget than the district got this year.
