Stouffer seeks Mid-Missouri votes in secretary of state's race

Bill Stouffer is term-limited and can't return to the state Senate, where he's been helping make laws for the last eight years.

Now he's running for secretary of state, and gave residents a chance to visit with him Monday morning in Jefferson City.

"l just look back over my life experience and think I'm well-prepared for the secretary of state's office," he told a reporter. "Constituent service has been a strong part of my service in the Senate, and I think that's what that (secretary of state's) job needs."

Stouffer, 65, also cited his farming background and his work on the MFA Inc. Board "where we resized the company and refocused it," as experiences that would help him run the secretary of state's office well.
