Man accused of threatening woman with hammer

June 5th, 2012 in News

A Jefferson City man is facing multiple charges after he threatened to harm a woman with a hammer and led authorities on a brief chase Sunday morning.

According to court records, Charles Cutchlow, 28, 413 Hutton Lane, is charged with second-degree assault, armed criminal action and resisting arrest.

Jefferson City police said Cutchlow had gotten into an argument with a female at his residence, grabbed a hammer and swung it at her. He reportedly had said he would kill her.

It was also reported that Cutchlow had broken the female's phones to prevent her from calling police.

The victim was not injured.

Evidence at the scene showed Cutchlow broke parts of the stairs of the home with a hammer along with vertical blinds and pulled off kitchen cabinet doors.

Cutchlow chased the woman out of the house and then got into a vehicle and fled the scene before police arrived.

Cutchlow's vehicle was located, but he failed yield to officers.

He eventually lost control of his vehicle, crashed and was arrested.

A hammer was found in Cutchlow's car.

Officers were unable to get a statement from Cutchlow because he was yelling and refused to be processed at the Cole County Jail.
