Morgan Co. woman charged in son's death to stand trial

STOVER, Mo. (AP) - A central Missouri woman will stand trial for second-degree murder in the death of her son, who prosecutors believe was abused by the woman's boyfriend.

After a preliminary hearing Wednesday, a Morgan County judge ruled 26-year-old Jamie Litton could be tried for second-degree murder and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Litton's boyfriend, 21-year-old Thomas "T.J." Presley, is also charged with second-degree murder but waived his preliminary hearing.

The two suspects told police that Blake Litton of Stover was killed Feb. 16 by a hit-and-run driver along Missouri 135. Investigators said they believe Presley staged the hit-and-run to cover up a beating.

The Sedalia Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/OJojIY ) investigators testified Wednesday they found no evidence of a car accident and the boy's body had many cuts and bruises.
