Food program for at-risk Eldon students created

ELDON, Mo. - Budget cuts to a regional food bank left a program that sends food home with Eldon children over the weekend needing more support. But a local group has stepped forward to help fill the void.

PAVE AmeriCorps*VISTA and the Eldon School District have created a community-based effort to help at-risk students who rely on the weekend food program.

"When we were notified that the Central Missouri Food Bank was not able to support Eldon School's Buddy Pack program for the 2012-13 school year, we were all concerned," said Ashley Hanks, Mustang Pack coordinator with PAVE AmeriCorps*VISTA.
