The former police chief of Holts Summit has been appointed to become the new superintendent at the Cole County Jail.
Lt. Victor Pitman has been with the Cole County Sheriff's Department for almost two years.
Lt. Stacy Hickman, an 11-year veteran of the department, has been named assistant jail superintendent.
"I've known Victor since 1991 and it's great to work with him again." said Sheriff Greg White during a Monday press conference. "Stacy has a great knowledge of jail operations, and I think they'll bring a great vision to their positions."
Former superintendent Russ Bemboom, an 18-year veteran with the department, resigned in May. He said it was "to pursue another avenue in his career."
