KINGSTON, Jamaica - One athlete with Lincoln ties earned a spot in the Olympics with his result in the Jamaican Olympic Trials on Sunday, while another came up short.
Former Blue Tiger Dane Hyatt won the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 44.83. He was the only runner in the eight-man race to break the 45-second barrier, as the second-place finisher posted a time of 45.10.
The top three finishers in each event qualify for the London Olympics, which are set for July 25-Aug. 12.
On the women's side, former Blue Tiger Davita Prendergast finished eighth in the 400-meter dash in 52.54 and failed to advance.
