Fleming Fieldhouse was eerily quiet for a Friday night home basketball game.
When Scott Stegeman connected on a free throw four minutes into the game for the Jays' sixth point of the night, the home crowd erupted into a state of euphoria.
"That was set up at an assembly today," Jefferson City coach Blair Thompson said. "It's called Silent Night and on the sixth point of the game that's what was supposed to happen. It was a neat deal, it was different."
St. Louis University High School eventually quieted the crowd again with a fourth-quarter comeback for a 51-45 victory.
