Multi-vehicle crashes ties up traffic in JC

Two separate accidents on the Missouri River Bridge coming into Jefferson City Wednesday left two people with minor injuries and morning rush hour traffic at a stand still.

According to police department reports, this was first reported at 7:42 a.m.

Authorities said seven vehicles were involved.

The first vehicle in the line of cars involved was struck.

After that, a chain reaction of collisions occurred involving the six remaining vehicles.

Those drivers involved included:

• Robert Hargis, 42, Holts Summit

• Justin Bolte, 22, Columbia

• Kevin Rackers, 46, New Bloomfield

• Bryan Braunschweig, 35, Holts Summit

• Martin Oetting, 47, Columbia

• Dora Crawford 46, Fulton

• Kirk Strube, 27, Montgomery City.

Five of the vehicles were somewhat drivable and were moved to the ramp to W. Main Street while the other two vehicles had to be towed due to the damage they had sustained.

Bolte and Strube were treated for minor injuries.

All drivers and their passengers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
