Researchers strike up the bands

Bands on birds to help observatory track travels of species

Yeah, the weekend event was for the birds. But those watching the birds had a lot of fun and gathered some information for the Missouri River Bird Observatory.

On Saturday, area volunteers and crew from the observatory tagged birds in the Jefferson City area for observation.

Regina Garr, co-owner of Birds-i-View on Ellis Boulevard, said the crew from the Marshall observatory was looking at how long birds are staying in an area and how long those birds are living.
