Your Opinion: Transformation not easy, but beneficial

Dear Editor:

Transformation isn't easy to acknowledge people's fears. It's typically an in-depth process making your business more competitive, your life rewarding and in this instance, a better community.

Serving two years as a volunteer on the Transformation Committee, I quickly understood that it wasn't about me. Transform JC is about my family, my peers, young professionals, businesses, churches and citizens of City of Jefferson. We're a beautiful river city that can boost our attributes. Let's show our young professionals that we want them to stay and serve as future leaders. Vote "yes' for your children and/or grandchildren so one day they will thank you for believing in our community. Investing a half-cent sales tax for the next 10 years allows transformation that we desperately need.

I understand the hesitation to vote for a tax and understand they are legitimate feelings. Honestly, it would be shocking if you approved of every project on the list. When you vote "yes' on Feb. 7, you're stating there are a few or many projects you agree will be beneficial for our community. www.TransformJeffersonCity.com is a website that can answer most of your questions.

I encourage our local coffee groups who want more information and see the projects first hand; to visit the campaign office during the new open house schedule: 7:30-9:30 a.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m. on the following days: Jan. 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 27, 30 and Feb. 1, 3 and 6. The campaign office is located at 718 East Capitol. You may also call the campaign office at 634-5385 with additional questions. Transparency and accountability are the strengths of Transform JC. This has been a community wide effort that deserves community support.

I ask that you please vote "yes' for Transform JC on Feb. 7.
