Lawmakers hear options for rebuilding I-70

Creating a public/private partnership with a company - or a group of companies - that would design and rebuild Interstate 70 may be the best hope for its future, state Transportation Director Kevin Keith told members of the Legislature's Joint Committee on Transportation on Tuesday afternoon.

As he's reported before, Keith noted repairing the interstate across outstate Missouri will require between $2 billion and $4 billion - money the state doesn't have today, and doesn't know how it's going to get.

But there's no real choice to do nothing, Keith said.
