It was a perfect night for Deion Hughes.
The Helias senior scored 19 points on 8-of-8 shooting, capped an unblemished career against crosstown rival Jefferson City and sank a three-quarter court buzzer beater at the end of the first half. Hughes' superb performance led the Crusaders to a 62-52 victory over the Jays on Tuesday night at Fleming Fieldhouse.
The buzzer beater was the highlight of the night.
"I've never made one of those shots in my life," Hughes said. "I got lucky enough for it to go in. Banked it in, called it."
