Construction has yet to begin, but area home builders and volunteers are digging in to help out a Marine from Fulton.
Late last fall word spread through Jefferson City High School and the rest of the community about the need and desire to build Lance Cpl. Tyler Huffman a handicap-accessible home.
The Marine was injured when in Afghanistan on Dec. 3, 2010, he was struck in the chest by an enemy sniper. His injuries left him in a wheelchair.
The Fulton native was offered a Cole County lot by Joe and Kay Twehous at the Veteran's Appreciation Dinner hosted by the high school's Ambassador Club the night before Veteran's Day. Huffman was the guest of honor at the event, where the couple made the offer.
