Blair Oaks topples Fulton in overtime

WARDSVILLE - When they needed them in the fourth quarter, not only were free throws not free for Blair Oaks, but the Lady Falcons couldn't buy one.

Then when they needed them in overtime, it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

The Lady Falcons missed seven straight from the charity stripe in the final 1:44 of regulation to aid a Fulton comeback, but Blair Oaks drilled 12-of-16 in overtime to salt away a 72-63 victory.

They did so in part to one big game, and one big shot.

The big game belonged to LeeAnn Polowy, who tied the school record with 32 points, joining the efforts put up by Sharon Verslues and Kelly Rackers. Polowy knocked down 7-of-18 shots from the field and 14-of-21 from the charity stripe while matching the record.

The big shot belonged to Sara Jones, whose 3-pointer with :06 left in regulation prevented Blair Oaks' collapse from being fatal.
