Monday's observance of the national Martin Luther King Jr. holiday means most national, state, county and local government offices will be closed, except for emergency services and law enforcement.
The Missouri Legislature will not be in session. The state Archives, 600 W. Main St., also will be closed.
Jefferson City's Jefftran buses will not run.
The U.S. Postal Service will be closed, with no customer window service or regular mail deliveries. Express Mail will be delivered as required, and there will be mailbox collections on the holiday schedule.
Some area schools, including Lincoln University, the Jefferson City Public Schools and Helias Catholic High School will be closed.
Some businesses and most financial institutions will be closed.
The Missouri River Regional Library in Jefferson City and Linn will be closed Monday.
However, the Heartland Library in Eldon and the Daniel Boone Library System in Boone and Callaway counties will remain open.
The holiday will not affect the Republic Services/Allied Waste trash and recycling collection schedule.
