The biggest unknown in Jefferson City's Transformation process has come to light as the state has authorized a non-binding agreement on use of the old Missouri State Penitentiary.
At the City Council meeting Tuesday, Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Randy Allen and former Mayor John Landwehr are expected to make a presentation on securing the five memorandums of understanding (MOU) concerning properties needed for projects in the proposed Transformation economic development sales tax.
Transformation, now known as the Transform Jeff City campaign, is the economic development strategic plan put forward by the chamber which proposes a 10-year half-cent economic development sales tax that, if passed, would raise more than $41 million to complete a list of 30 projects around the city. The tax, which is being sponsored by the city, is on the Feb. 7 ballot.
