Missouri man charged in hatchet homicide, razor attack

PLATTE CITY, Mo. (AP) - A 22-year-old man has been charged with using a hatchet to fatally attack a co-worker while she was fishing this spring at a northwest Missouri conservation area.

The Platte County prosecutor announced Saturday that Quintin P. O'Dell of Platte City faces one count of first-degree murder in the May 31 death of Alissa Faye Shippert. Fishermen found the Platte City woman's body in the Platte Falls Conservation Area.

A detective said in the probable cause statement that O'Dell disclosed details of the homicide this week while he was being questioned in the Dec. 26 attack of a Ferrelview woman with a razor. O'Dell is charged with first-degree assault in the razor attack.

No attorney is listed for O'Dell in court records. He is jailed in Platte County on $750,000 bond.
