The Civil War affected Jefferson City, though the scars of battle never reached inside the city limits.

The soldiers and the community were forever impacted, and local historians are making sure their stories are told during this sesquicentennial of the War Between the States.

On Tuesday evening, Gary Kremer discussed "Civil War in Jefferson City" with the Historic City of Jefferson. And in the online-only Missouri Blue Book 2011-12, Bill Stine's story of "Union Army Private Fredrick Buehrle" is featured.

"I particularly like that 1915 photo of Fredrick Buehrle's military funeral on High and Jefferson Street," Stine said.
