Essuon, Walker get MIAA awards

After an outstanding season, Vivian Essuon of Lincoln was selected to the All-Midwest Intercollegiate Athletics Association first-team Monday.

Essuon, a senior, led the MIAA at 9.6 rebounds per game and finished with a conference-high 12 double-doubles this season. She's just the third Lincoln women's player to earn first-team honors in the MIAA, joining Beverly Scott (1982-83) and Pam Pringle (1985-86).

Arriana Walker of Lincoln was named to the conference's all-defensive team.

Walker, a 5-6 junior from Parkway South High School in St. Louis, averaged 2.8 steals per game, second-best in the MIAA. She also was honorable mention all-conference.
