Woman falls asleep, crashes into restaurant

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A woman is expected to face charges after falling asleep at the wheel while waiting for her food at a McDonald's in St. Louis County, then crashing into a neighboring restaurant.

KMOV-TV (http://bit.ly/zfMyO6 ) reports that the accident happened about 4:20 a.m. Wednesday in Ferguson. Police say the woman was in the drive-thru lane when she fell asleep, hit the accelerator and sped into the roadway. The car crossed four lanes of traffic and hopped a curb before slamming into the front of another restaurant.

The driver was not seriously hurt. Police say she had outstanding warrants and was arrested at the scene.

A large window at the restaurant was shattered and some of the brick fagade was damaged.
