Lady Jays overcome Hickman 42-37

SEDALIA - It wasn't Jefferson City's night.

Nineteen turnovers. A 28-percent shooting performance. Leading scorer and rebounder Napheesa Collier limited to seven points and five rebounds due to four fouls in the first half.

But the Lady Jays' seniors weren't ready for their careers to end just yet.

Jefferson City's seniors combined for 25 of its 27 second-half points as the Lady Jays overcame a sluggish first half to defeat Hickman 42-37 in the semifinals of the Class 5 District 9 Tournament on Tuesday night.

"I'm not done," said senior Kristin Burnett, who led the Lady Jays with 14 points. "I'm ready for this to keep going."
