No one likes to get shots, and Jessi Kempker, RN, immunization coordinator for the Cole County Health Department, knows that firsthand.
"When I walk into a room and a child is crying because they know I am there to give them a shot, it can be heartbreaking," she said. "It is also nice to be the one to give them the shot, calm them down and get a smile as they walk out of the door, waving. And I know I was able to protect them from horrible illness and disease, and maybe even death."
Kempker, a Lincoln University graduate, said she enjoys her two weekly immunization clinics.
