The Fire Department is investigating the origin of a residential fire that caused extensive damage.

Fire Department spokesman Jason Turner said a fire was reported just before 11 a.m. Tuesday at 422 Oberman Place, the home of Joe Wilson. Turner said there was extensive damage, and the house may be damaged beyond repair.

"Probably, the house is a total loss," Turner said.

Wilson was not at the residence when the fire broke out, but Turner said four dogs were rescued from the building, including one who had to resuscitated. Turner said the other dogs had minor smoke injuries, but were doing fine.

The cause has been left undetermined, but Turner said the department is not ruling out the possibility of it being an electrical fire. He said it took the department roughly 10 minutes to put out the fire, but firefighters remained on scene for about two hours.
