Mo. couple charged with promoting prostitution

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A couple is charged with promoting prostitution in downtown Springfield.

Mark and Laura Fiedler were charged Monday, a year after they were arrested in a sting operation at the Landmark Building in Springfield.

Laura Fiedler, a third-grade teacher in Springfield, has been on administrative leave since her arrest.

The Springfield News-Leader reports (http://sgfnow.co/xJvHj9) that search warrants from the case indicate as many as five women were working as prostitutes at the building. The Fielders are accused of arranging meetings between the prostitutes and their clients.

Court documents say Laura Fielder told authorities she didn't know her husband was operating a prostitution service.

The couple was not in custody Tuesday morning.
