Your Opinion: Tax would take money from working people

Dear Editor:

In Washington D.C., members of Congress work hard to find a way to extend the payroll tax cut and keep more money in the working person's pocket each payday. Locally our civic leaders have proposed and the City Council has approved to move forward and have a vote to take more money out of the working person's pocket everyday - they call it transformation.

While Congress works diligently to keep money in the taxpayers pocket and help the economy continue recovering from the recession our local the Chamber of Commerce wants to take more tax money and spend it on their selected projects. When the current payroll tax cut expires all working people will see a steep reduction in their take home pay.

The local Chamber of Commerce wants that pay cut to slice deeper by several hundred dollars a year. I plan to vote no Feb. 7 and solicit you to do the same.
