Eldon's late timeouts add intrigue to Helias victory

To be continued.

With 05:5 left in Friday night's game with the Eldon Mustangs at Rackers Fieldhouse, Robbie Husting hit the front end of a 1-and-1 for Helias to give the Crusaders a 12-point lead.

Timeout, Eldon. Followed by another timeout. Then a third.

Unless the Mustangs were drawing up a 13-point play or trying to ice Husting, there had to be a point to the elongated ending.

"I've been a head coach for 19 years and when I want to get kids subbed into the game, I'll tell my kids to foul or I'll call a timeout and not use it," Eldon coach Jimmy Lincoln said after the Mustangs dropped a 62-50 decision to the Crusaders.

Lincoln was upset when Helias coach Josh Buffington called a timeout with :52 remaining up 13 points with the Crusader reserves on the floor.
