Bookkeeper sentenced in thefts from nursing home

A former bookkeeper will spend at least four months of "shock time" in prison for stealing from a south-central Missouri long-term care facility.

Tammy F. Conaway was sentenced Friday to concurrent seven-year prison terms after she pleaded guilty to abuse of a Medicaid recipient, forgery and stealing by deceit.

She will serve 120 days of shock time before a judge decides whether to put her on probation or send her to prison to serve her sentence.

Prosecutors say Conaway stole money from residents of Cuba Manor, and forged signatures of the center's residents and guardians to conceal the thefts.
